Have You Ever Spoke With a Talent Scout?

We all have talents and gifts hiding inside of us. Each day I walk through the world and I meet people with amazing gifts. The problem is most don’t really know that they are special. That they have an amazing gift. It sad to me when I see someone waste their talents or worse just absolutely not use them. Myself, I work part time as a music reviewer. People from all over the world send me their music. I feel lucky because each week all this music comes rolling in from all over. Whenever I come across an artist that is still on the journey of finding their sound I tell them to not give up and to just keep working. Just because we might have a gift or talent doesn’t mean that we don’t have to work on developing it. The greatest talent scout of all time is God. He came down as his son, through his son Jesus. God took the time to be born, grow and live among us. He felt our pain and our happiness. When Jesus began his ministry he didn’t seek out the most “learned” or “wise”. He looked into the hearts of men along his way and saw the talents and gifts they had inside of them. He called them, and they came. Could you imagine someone coming up to you today and asking you to leave all that you have and all that you know right then and there and follow him. To do so would mean that you were either a major fool or that you saw something special. As each Apostle left all they knew they went on to see just that. Something special that was a once in a history experience. They saw Jesus heal the sick, give sight to the blind, feed hungry masses and raise the dead back to life. Most importantly though they had the opportunity to commune in person with God. They got to learn how to love from God. They got to learn how to forgive from God. All through Jesus the son of God, and because God and they took the time to use their talents and gifts we now can learn about love, forgiveness, hope, faith and charity from God. Whether you are well immersed in using your talents correctly or lost and don’t even know what they are, I encourage you to spend time with God everyday. For if you do spend time learning, worshiping and loving everyday it only gets better from here.

Mark 1:14-20

14Now after John was arrested, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of God, 15and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand; repent, and believe in the gospel." 16And passing along by the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and Andrew the brother of Simon casting a net in the sea; for they were fishermen. 17And Jesus said to them, "Follow me and I will make you become fishers of men." 18And immediately they left their nets and followed him. 19And going on a little farther, he saw James the son of Zeb'edee and John his brother, who were in their boat mending the nets. 20And immediately he called them; and they left their father Zeb'edee in the boat with the hired servants, and followed him.
